France’s Vélo d’Or
I know I haven’t been the best about posting here. I try, but sometimes I don’t have anything to talk about. Not because I’m sick of cycling or sick of doping, just because I don’t have much to say. I’ve said my piece about doping, about Armstrong coming back, and so on. I suppose I could do collections of links I like — stories that I find interesting, because I do enjoy that kind of thing. And, of course, I read loads of articles (about cycling, but other things too). But for some reason I just don’t have the desire to do that. I think I definitely need to work on it, though.
Moving on. I do have something to post about today. I was reading my google alerts this morning, and I have a few, and one of them was about Sylvain (hence the picture to the left). And no, it wasn’t the story about him cutting his finger while opening clams. It was less painfully amusing and something completely awesome.
Sylvain won the Vélo d’Or for France. In case you didn’t know, the Vélo d’Or is basically like the Ballon d’Or, only for cycling (obviously). Where Ballon d’Or means ‘golden boot,’ the Vélo d’Or means ‘golden bicycle.’ The overall award went to some guy named Contador Alberto Contador, but the one for France went to Sylvain. And, to be honest, I’m seriously proud of him. He had such a great year that he totally deserved it.
