WRR Round Up

So, how did Sylvain do yesterday? Really not that great. But that’s okay, y’all knew I didn’t expect great things. I should have mentioned, though, that one Mr. Philippe Gilbert (you might remember him from such things as being my second favorite cyclist) did quite well. And I think, had it not been for Paolo Bettini, he might have had a chance. But, of course, he didn’t. We all know why.

So, how did these boys of mine do? Let’s start with the top two favorites:

8 Philippe Gilbert (Belgium)
67 Sylvain Chavanel (France)

It’s clear who was better today. But now, for the rest of my list.

DNF Trent Lowe (Australia)
26 Jurgen Van Goolen (Belgium)
50 Damiano Cunego (Italy)
52 Alessandro Ballan (Italy)
11 Thomas Dekker (Netherlands)
19 Thor Hushovd (Norway)

As you can see, not everyone made the cut, but not bad. Three in the top 20, on in the middle and three in the 50s. So, not a bad turn out by my boys. Next year will hopefully be better (cleaner?). We’ll find out, in coming days, how Bettini’s win plays out, but I doubt there’ll be much fall out. Unfortunate as that is, that’s way things go in cycling.

One last note, someone who wasn’t on my list, but did resonable:

31 Thomas Lövkvist (Sweden)
