giro ‘05

Well. I managed to make one post a month, or something.

The Giro is over and I’ve got to confess that it was one hell of a race. I am so thankful that RAI Sport (Italian TV) and Eurosport are not location-based programs as I was able to watch many of the stages and listen to English commentary (even if there was a 30 second delay between what I heard and what I saw). It was worth all the trouble to see it live.

As for what I thought about the result? I’ll probably post something more in depth at the Giro Blog (yes, April and I are slackers). I hope to do better during the tour (and I hope to be able to see many of the stages, though I think my work gets OLN, so there is that) and write more.

But, I am so happy with the win. I was rooting for Paolo and was simply thrilled that he won. I know how much Gibo wanted it, but, well, there’s always next year. Now, if Lance wins the tour, which Disco (better than DC, don’t you think?) rider will win the Vuelta, especially since Heras has his own team (I know he had it last year, too and won — so the chances of another rider winning are low, unless something happens to him)?

I just hope that Tour de France can live up to the excitement created by the Giro this yea.
