the end of the season
It’s really only the end of the European (and American) road cycling season, the Australian season is just getting started. I’ve been sort of following the Herald Sun Tour, but none of my favorites are racing at the moment. I’m rooting for Luke Roberts, Simon Gerrans, and the Swede, Jonas Ljungblad. I don’t know why, but I have a soft spot for Swedish (and Dutch, but that’s different and related to swimming) athletes — mostly when it comes to golf, though (Fredrik Jacobson and Chris Hanell for example).
I’ve been lazy, both with this blog (and my others) and in my following of cycling. I don’t know how it happened, I think my newfound love for golf combined with the Olympics right after the Tour had something to do with it. And the fact that I moved out and didn’t have live Vuelta coverage to look forward too (that was really kind of depressing). I did follow the Vuelta and was moderately surprised that Roberto won again, but not completely. I can’t remember (I’m such a bad fan sometimes) who I wanted to win, but it was whoever Roberto took the jersey from.
If I remember correctly, Floyd had the jersey at one point and that’s who I was rooting for early on. But, sadly, that was not to be (again, not unexpected — just disappointing). I have been following the “lesser” races, trying to keep track of Christian Werner, Sylvain Chavanel, David Kopp and Jurgen van Goolen (who is going to race in Japan soon).
And that’s my sad little update. I shall try to update more often.
Also, I still think Tyler is innocent and if anyone can hook me up with one of those pins Tyler was giving out at Interbike, that’d rock.
